POSITION SUMMARY

 

As a Fire Protection Designer II you will assist in the design, coordination, and fabrication of Fire Suppression systems.

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • You'll assists senior designers and engineers in fire suppression and detection system design tasks
  • You'll assist in creation of calculations, drawings and specifications related to fire suppression and detection systems
  • You'll help in coordinating all aspects of the project design with project management, architects and other trades through the completion phase of a project
  • Perform and review CAD and REVIT drafting work, calculations, fabrication reports, cut-sheets and field prints
  • You're learn and apply applicable codes, specifications and criteria required to support the design of multiple projectsExamines field conditions, conceptual and construction documents to develop a constructible system
  • You'll use your experience as a Fire Protection Designer to do hydraulic calculations, drawings and specifications related to fire suppression systems for small projects
  • You'll oversee the entire lifecycle of small projects as it pertains to fire protection including layout, permit procurement, field surveys, coordination, creation of fabrication lists, answering and assist with field generated questions, RFI creation, and as-builts.

 

What you’ll need to be successful:

 

  • You have experience self QC drawings prior to submitting to peer review
  • You can competently perform hydraulic calculations and lists on projects
  • You're able to estimate design hours for projects
  • You can provide basic information to develop change orders/RFIs
  • You are accountable and responsible for meeting deliverable deadlines
  • You can competently and accurately decipher contract drawings, calculations, and specifications
  • You have success in competently and effectively coordinating projects


 

What you bring to the table:

 

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Knowledge of software programs related to Fire Protection - AutoSprink, Revit or other relevant programs
  • If you have experience as a Fire Protection journeyman or apprentice, this is a great path into design work
  • NICET II minimum preferred, with 3-5 years of experience in fire protection design work
